Cloudike: Delivering Personal Cloud Solution to Telcos

Igor Filatov, CEO
In today’s cut-throat enterprise arena, telecom solution providers (telcos) need to reach and connect with users across different ecosystems to increase and diversify their revenue streams. That said, due to a significant decline in more traditional revenue-generating channels like SMS, voice calling, and upselling, the time is ripe for telcos to venture into other areas outside their core business to increase revenue. To this end, personal cloud emerges as the next frontier for telcos to deliver more value-added services (VAS) to end customers. According to a report by Markets and Markets, the global personal cloud market size is estimated to grow from USD 23.7 billion in 2019 to USD 73.4 billion by 2024, at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 25.4 percent. Additionally, as over-the-top media services (OTTs) such as Google Drive, Dropbox and others are recouping costs by pulling back on free or low-cost offerings, there is a real opportunity for telcos to take advantage of the personal cloud market upheaval and acquire increased market share in this space.

However, building a personal cloud solution from scratch is a time and resource-consuming task. This is where Cloudike takes center stage with a white label platform, enabling telcos to build personal cloud storage solutions for their customers seamlessly. “Our platform allows telcos to create value-added service that generates a new revenue stream as well as increases customer retention,” says Igor Filatov, CEO at Cloudike. With many useful features such as the cloud file system, photo collections, secured backup of contacts, among others, the Cloudike platform enhances average revenue per user (ARPU) up to one USD. Besides, it also increases customer engagement, reducing the churn rate drastically.

The company enables telcos to include the personal cloud as a VAS in many ways. They can choose to add Cloudike inside application bundles, allowing clients to provide greater benefits to their customers through multifaceted solutions. Besides, for telcos that aspire to embed personal cloud inside their self-service apps, Cloudike provides SDKs for Android & iOS that improves customer experience to a great extent. The company also offers white-labeled Mobile apps for Android & iOS as well as web portals, which enables telcos to rebrand personal cloud applications as their own. Additionally, with Cloudike’s fully documented set of APIs, telcos can intuitively integrate the company’s solution to their projects. More importantly, the company offers around-the-clock operational support, code maintenance, and upgrades for its solutions. “We offer robust support and maintenance for our platform, ensuring all the services work seamlessly and users are satisfied at all times,” mentions Igor.

Moreover, upon telcos’ request, Cloudike deploys its platform on hosting solutions such as AWS using Dockers. Cloudike uses AWS’ Simple Storage Service (S3) and Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) to store data and gain secure, resizable computing capacity in the cloud. “We also support some AI features from AWS such as search-by-text, facial recognition, and many other services,” informs Igor.

The most significant value-add for telcos is Cloudike’s enhanced flexibility and revenue generation capabilities. Although telcos share their customer base to popular OTT platforms, their revenue share is minuscule. Additionally, when the customers decide to opt-out of Telcos’ services, they still remain subscribers of those OTT platforms. Besides, the OTT platforms do not offer any flexibility to promote telcos’ other services on their platform. On the other hand, with Cloudike, they can use the platform with complete flexibility and monetize it according to their requirements. Also, while other white-label personal cloud solution providers offer several solutions, Cloudike only focuses on its core offering of delivering personal cloud solutions.

The company has helped several telcos in increasing their ARPU as well as customer retention with its platform. Igor shares a customer success story of a leading telecom operator in the Middle East that launched its personal cloud using Cloudike’s white label solution. Within two years of launching its personal cloud, the telco registered around $10 million annual recurring revenue with 200 percent year-on-year growth.

With several such success stories, Cloudike has been garnering widespread attention from leading telcos worldwide. At present, the company has offices in North America, Russia, and South Korea and is aiming to expand geographically in the coming years. Cloudike also has plans to add innovative features such as artificial intelligence on its platform to improve user experience. “As the personal cloud is attracting more attention from the telcos worldwide, we are ready to build partnerships with them and improve their bottom line,” concludes Igor.
